WANG Qiong
Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Editor
WANG Qiong is a Chinese emerging independent documentary filmmaker and cinematographer. Currently based in Philadelphia (USA), Qiong is completing her MFA in Filmmaking from Temple University and was nominated by her department for the prestigious Princess Grace Award 2021. Interested in humanity, she focuses on themes about social injustice and human rights, telling stories of underrepresented individuals and communities who deserve equal attention and care in society. Her frames explore the four different stages of life: birth, aging, illness and death. Through it, she excavates the cultural, political, and sociological context of how people see and deal with these issues. She spent her last seven years filming her family about abortions and desertions to explore complex societal power over women’s bodies from the time of China’s One-Child Policy and the history of discrimination against women.
She is currently working on her second and third feature- length documentaries ISLAND and THE LAST NAIL.
ALL ABOUT MY SISTERS is her debut feature film.
